I’m very happy to announce that our upcoming “Show Me The Money” program for film makers will have a contest in which some of you will get the chance to participate. From my inner circle of film and finance professionals, people are very excited about this new addition to the program.
Filmmakers have two dramatic problems and neither of them are artistic. First, filmmakers have to get the money to make their film. Second, they have to make enough money so that they can pay the original money back. Both of these issues, if left unattended and unplanned for, will take you down the bunny hole faster than you can imagine.
The city of Los Angeles could lose billions of dollars over the writers’ strike that’s just about a month old. The writers are holding out for another $130 million, but the cost to vendors, suppliers and contractors of the industry is potentially astronomical - many times greater than the amount that the writers are asking for. The ripple effect of shutting down this core industry is almost incalculable.
